I am writing this narrative project relative to the Narrative Project’s sheet instructions. After writing in my blog post #3, Composing a Present tense ; blog #4, Composing action into Past Scene; Blog #5 , Composing a Past Tense; blog #6, Composing a Past Scene, I wrote the narrative project.
My narrative project is about the decision that I made in 2012 when I was working with Unicefin Chad. During the process, I asked advice to my manager, my friends, and my big brother. The decision that I made impacted positively my life. For helping us understanding the writing process, we read what Creative Nonfiction? (Lee Gutkind) is &`Making Scenes in Memoir (Lee Martin). After reading and annotating the Bullet in the Brain (Tobias Wolff), we rewrite a scene of action from the story and a scene of action from our current life. We also read the Yellow Wallpaper (Charlotte Perkins Stetson) to complete the writing a scene from action. Then we wrote the scene from the past, about a moment someone close to us made a decision that impacted negatively our life. These different steps lead us to a draft of our Narrative project. After that, our teacher gave opportunity to each student to present his draft. Based on the feedback we revised the story and were asked to found poem. Found poem was one of the important exercise that allowed you to put words together and make meaning. The second draft was difficult to rewrite because it has to be a counterfactual story. I rewrote and made a different choice. Then I wrote the final draft reflecting my initial story. We used in this process the blogs ‘comment posts to improve our writing.
